hand knitted baby hats…for warm heads & warm hearts

My brain is going to melt.

You’ve ever been to a conference and learned so many new things that your brain actually hurts from all of the information?  That’s me.   It’s only been 3 days, but it’s been a very long 3 days.  3 days of talking about work, thinking about work, getting new ideas for work, for 12 hours a day.   I. Am. Burnt. Out.   548338_319743551424512_288508574548010_756669_75664385_n

But, learning is growth, right?  New ideas are exciting.  And change is good.  It is all worth the long drive and long days.   We are seeing so many cool things, and getting so much feedback, and getting such inspiration, it’s been really, truly, awesome.

Who needs full brain power, anyway?

BTW, no time for knitting, so more stuff will have to wait….Here is a repeat of one of my favorites, the Ruby, on the left.   And below, an image from another photographer, featuring the Bobby.222592_10151042068056157_1078814403_n   Love to see my hats ‘in action’.

Until then, don’t forget the shop is at : http://www.etsy.com/shop/punkinhead1

Twin hats – hand knitted newborn – organic cotton

Well, as my previous post mentioned, there are always a million thought going through my head.   And not all come to fruition, I’m afraid.   But here is one I’ve actually remembered to do!   While thinking of the hats available, and if there was something I could make for twins, like I did for the triplets, I realized this.   I already have a twin set done.   It’s as I told my coworker today – I love it when I have a really great idea, go to implement it, and realized I’d already had that idea.  It means I’m doubly smart, not twice as forgetful.  🙂

The sun is out – Joy to the world!

mit144After all the recent gray days, both in weather and in the emotions of our country, the sun is out today.  It’s a beautiful day out there, though the trees are bare and brown, and the grass isn’t looking so great.   It’s still beautiful to see the sun and it is lifting my spirits, reminding me of better days ahead.

I thought it a perfect time to post my newest hat, shown on a sweet newborn baby.   There is Joy in this world.  Even in our darkest times.

The Triplets! Hand knitted baby hats for 3 sweet babies! Organic cotton.

I’m 45.  I admit it.  Halfway to 90.  Like most people my age, I have a teenager.  And my husband and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary.   And though on the surface, it sounds quite ‘normal’, the path here was not as cut and dried as it looks.  Ron is my 2nd husband.  We have a 20 year age difference.  And it wasn’t that easy to conceive our beautiful daughter.

But, this crooked path I took to marriage and parenthood is not nearly as surprising as my good friend T’s.   She married ‘late’ and had a difficult time having a successful pregnancy.  Then, a miracle happened and we were all thrilled when she got pregnant with…. twins!   Yes, I said twins.  Then, as God loves to give our lives little surprises, one of the embryos DSC00062 (3)split – and now you guessed it – triplets.  Triplets!   Three (3!) babies that are just over a month old!   Thank God they were born healthy, and they are growing and gaining weight.  Yay!

So, what is my point, you ask?  T is my age.  45.  Yes, she and her husband are new parents in their mid 40’s.  To triplets!  As you can imagine, they are beyond thrilled to suddenly have the big family they always wanted.  And I’m thrilled, too.  Not that I would want to start over now, mind you, and with 3, no less!  But, I am so happy that they finally can experience the joys of parenthood.   I love asking her about her ‘kids’ and being able to call her a mom.   She deserves this joy after all those years of heartbreak.

I’m shipping these three hats off to the triplets tomorrow.  I don’t know if the babies will ever wear them (it doesn’t get as cold there as it does here), but I wanted her to have them.   Hopefully they’ll grow so fast, that shortly they won’t fit for long!

Organic cotton hand knitted newborn hats – boy – perfect for twins!

As mentioned in the previous post, I have made a couple of versions of  the Chip.   I have 3 available – 1 in winter white, and 2 in this cool blue/green. All organic cotton.  Both the blue/green hats were made from the same skein, so the colors match, but there is a slight variation in how the pattern knitted up.  I really do love these, and love this yarn!  I should make one for myself sometime…when I’m ‘done’ with all my other projects.   See the joke there?  No knitter is ever really done with all of their projects.  🙂

Twin hats now available! Hand knitted organic cotton.

Well, thanks to a road trip to take the kid to camp, I was able to make 2 “Chip”s.  They’re from the same skein, of course, so they match perfectly and would be great for twin boys.  🙂

I also was able (sans kid) to find time to finish a larger version of the JT (below).   This is the super softest yarn ever, and is a really lovely color, though technically, I guess you could call this color ‘brown’.

I’m excited to be able to find time to knit again!   The kid is gone all week.  Let’s see what I can accomplish!

Hand knitted baby hats – where to get?

I realize that it’s not easy to see where to purchase my hats.  Although I think I’m pretty computer savvy, I have to be at work, I just couldn’t get my brain around setting up a store website.   So, I decided to use Etsy.  It’s easy to use )for both me and my customers), reliable,  trustworthy and user friendly.

Therefore….if you can’t figure out where my ‘Store’ is – it’s at http://www.etsy.com/punkinhead1  or you can just click the link to the right.   🙂  There you’ll see all the hats available now and can easily make your purchase.  So far the farthest I’ve shipped is Houston.  Where to next?

Thanks for looking (and shopping!)

Natural – bamboo – hand knitted baby hat for newborn boy

My newest ‘creation’.   Made of the bamboo yarn I love to use, it’s super, super, super soft.   I love feeling the yarn between my fingers as I knit.  I guess I find it comforting.

Life has been busy – the studio is busy, so days off are elusive, at best.   Evenings are busy with everything wanting my attention – the kid, the garden, the CSA veggies, the hammock.  🙂    So, needless to say, knitting has gone onto the back burner.  I have enough stock for my shop at etsy-  http://www.etsy.com/shop/punkinhead1 – but haven’t though of anything new to do.  But recently I found the urge to make this hat – and mostly to use this yarn.   Did I mention how soft it is?

I haven’t named this piece yet, it’s similar to the Meghan, but made in a different yarn.  Maybe I’ll call it the Daniel, named after her dad, my younger brother.  Yes, that seems fitting.   ‘Daniel’ it is!   What will be next?

Bobby – hand knitted baby hat – boy

This is that sweet little guy I was looking forward to photographing.   He is So.  Stinkin’.  Cute!   He was a challenge – a little wigglier than the average newborn since he was 5 weeks old – but so bright eyed and sweet!   His parents just completed his adoption and feel so very lucky to have this little one in their family.  Congratulations to his parents and I can’t wait to watch him grow up!
