hand knitted baby hats…for warm heads & warm hearts

Cassie – Knitted baby hats, newborn photography props

The Cassie is made from a super, super soft bamboo blend that is just..incredibly soft!  I love that it’s made from mixed sources, so it’s even Earth friendly!

I like working with an alternative yarn that is so yummy and soft and the colors make it one of my favorites.

Jace – Hand Knitted newborn hats, photography props

This super soft, chunky yarn is beautiful in its variations of brown and blue. Named after the 1st great grandson in our family, the Jace is just as sweet as the baby who inspired it!

Melody – Hand Knitted baby hat with pom pom, newborn, photography prop

There are no words….how cute is this?  The super chunky yarn with bits of pink is really sweet.   The ear flaps are both functional for keeping that little baby warm, but extra cute in baby’s 1st portrait session!

Ruby – Knitted baby hat, organic cotton, photography prop

Made from 100% organic cotton, the Ruby features a knitted flower with an inset of a flower button.  Because of the button, I would suggest this as a photography prop only.

Sam – Knitted baby boy hat, newborn, photography prop

There are a lot of little girls in my life, so coming up with names for my designs wasn’t difficult, until I started making more for boys.  This hat with the ear flaps is just too cute, and so it should be named for the 1st cute baby to enter my adult life -my very first…niece.  She’s always been Sam to me.  🙂

Could it be???

Can it, could it, possibly be that after weeks of knitting, thinking, planning, shopping, I’m finally ready to launch this site?  I have the etsy store all set.  Facebook page is all set.   Now I just have to get to linking them together, promoting them, etc.   Whew!

So, here’s the info we’ve been waiting for….www.etsy.com/shop/punkinhead1  and http://www.facebook.com/punkinheadhats.
Wish me luck!

As time goes by…

Which, by the way, is the name of one of my favorite tv shows ever.  It’s a Britcom, of which I’m a huge fan.  If you ever catch it on PBS, try it out.  It’s British humor, but completely endearing.  A couple of friends love it as well, and we even talked about how we would want to be home at 9:30 on a Saturday night to watch tv.  How funny is that?  ‘Lame’ comes to mind, but I prefer ‘funny’.  🙂

Anyway, 2 weeks have gone by and although I feel as if I’m making no progress, I have to tell myself I am.  I’ve been knitting away, coming up with new designs, and I swear buying more yarn every other day!   I have several hats ready to open the store, if I can just figure out the details of setting up e-commerce.

I know no one is reading this yet, but getting into the blog habit is one of my goals.  I’m sure next 2 weeks will be busy one here, as I finally get the hats photographed and post some images.   Until then, I think I need to give up the needles for a day or two to make some progress on the web.   Wish me luck!

The pressure of a name….

The hardest part, it seems, of starting this little venture, was picking a name.   We tried several variations, most including “wee”, even “Wee are the World”, but….even our best try wasn’t “it”, so I kept thinking.  Then I saw on facebook a friend that posted on her friend’s jewelry business, which is named after the nickname of her daughter.  And I thought to myself, “Sure would be great if I could think of a name that had to do with punkinhead (the nickname for MY daughter).”  And that was it!

You know that excitement when you find the perfect gift or find that perfect dress and it’s even on sale?  It was like that.   All that excitement over a name.   Now, onto knitting.
