Well, as my previous post mentioned, there are always a million thought going through my head. And not all come to fruition, I’m afraid. But here is one I’ve actually remembered to do! While thinking of the hats available, and if there was something I could make for twins, like I did for the triplets, I realized this. I already have a twin set done. It’s as I told my coworker today – I love it when I have a really great idea, go to implement it, and realized I’d already had that idea. It means I’m doubly smart, not twice as forgetful. 🙂
It’s time for something new….hand knitted cotton baby/newborn hats
Change can be a good thing. As much as I hate to face it sometimes. I have some big changes coming up, and I’m actually beginning to realize that it’s not going to be as bad as I thought it might be. Change makes us rethink things. Embrace new ideas. Prioritize. Become more efficient. And that’s what will happen. If you don’t have a choice in a situation, you can at least choose how you face the situation. So, I’m choosing to face it head on and with a positive attitude. Remind me of that later when I start to panic again, will you?
Anyway, while pondering everything that’s going on, I made a new hat with some awesome yarn that a friend gave to me. It’s hand dyed from Peru by a non profit organization, Manos del Uruguay, that helps women in need. Done in large kettles to create a subtle striated effect, the yarn is soft and has lovely shades of soft green and ivory. Available with or without the pom pon here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/120277033/hand-knit-baby-hat-hand-dyed-yarn
I’m also trying to get caught up on etsy and other things on my ‘to do’ list. Like posting another hat I made a while ago, it’s a larger size of this lavender cutie, which would be good for a 6-12 month baby, with some stretch for growth. So now onto more things on my list. There’s always something, isn’t there?
New hat – the Piper. Hand knitted, organic cotton hat, pink
I knew the name of my latest design would be “Piper”, but it took me a while to come up with something I liked. Piper was a sweet baby girl who, sadly, never made it into this world alive. I’m still praying her family finds peace during their time of grief.
Made with the same organic cotton yard that the Ruby has, it’s soft, earth friendly, and has a great texture for portraits. Ear flaps make it a cozy hat for the upcoming winter!
Organic cotton hand knitted newborn hats – boy – perfect for twins!
As mentioned in the previous post, I have made a couple of versions of the Chip. I have 3 available – 1 in winter white, and 2 in this cool blue/green. All organic cotton. Both the blue/green hats were made from the same skein, so the colors match, but there is a slight variation in how the pattern knitted up. I really do love these, and love this yarn! I should make one for myself sometime…when I’m ‘done’ with all my other projects. See the joke there? No knitter is ever really done with all of their projects. 🙂
Organic cotton hand knitted newborn baby hats – what’s in stock now!
After some recent sales, I thought it best that I update what’s available in the store! Thank you to everyone who has purchased a hat and kept this project of mine going.
Here is what is currently available in my organic cotton knits. For boys there are the winter white and blue/green options. (The Chip is available in both colors.) For girls we have the Ruby in winter white or pink.

Organic cotton white/pink newborn baby girl hat with flower
As I said, I’ve been loving this organic cotton yarn. It has such a nice feel to it. I decided to make a couple of variations of the “Ruby”, with all knitted flowers. Flowers can be removed, or customized, just contact me with questions!
All hats available at http://www.etsy.com/shop/punkinhead1
Organic cotton baby boy hat – blue, green
This is made with the same organic cotton yarn as the ‘Chip’. Shown without a pom pom, one can easily be added. The ribbing around the bottom gives a nice chunky look for use in newborn portraits. Really soft and warm, it’s great for the upcoming cold months!
Cotton organic newborn baby boy hat – white
I’ve been busy – and loving working with this organic cotton yarn. It’s soft, environmentally friendly, and easy to work with. It knits up beautifully and has such a great texture. Made in the same pattern as the “Chip”, the white is a nice option for portraits and every day wear.

New – hand knitted gnome boy hat – super soft!
Another road trip to camp today, so to keep busy, I made this gnome hat from some new yarn I picked up last night. I wasn’t sure how it would be to work with, and how it would knit up, but I’m happy with the result! The blues are very vibrant and range from baby blue to a gorgeous royal blue. The lime green adds a perfect accent!
Twin hats now available! Hand knitted organic cotton.
Well, thanks to a road trip to take the kid to camp, I was able to make 2 “Chip”s. They’re from the same skein, of course, so they match perfectly and would be great for twin boys. 🙂
I also was able (sans kid) to find time to finish a larger version of the JT (below). This is the super softest yarn ever, and is a really lovely color, though technically, I guess you could call this color ‘brown’.
I’m excited to be able to find time to knit again! The kid is gone all week. Let’s see what I can accomplish!
